Keep your profitability up, your downtime down
Hot/cold wheel detection systems can generate false positives that result in cars being removed from service for unnecessary inspections. As detection accuracy goes up, the number of cars set out goes down. Your rolling stock runs better, longer and more safely – especially in the coldest weather and on long downgrades.

For an in-depth explanation, download NYAB’s position paper: How Cold Wheel Detection Systems Work – The Issue of False Positives.

Wheel-Temp-Comparison-Chart

DB-60 II control valves with BCM narrow the temperature range and decrease the number of cars flagged by hot/cold wheel detectors.

Tested in mountainous terrain by a Class 1 railroad, DB-60 II with BCM has proven to increase braking power. The BCM function continually compensates for loss of brake cylinder pressure caused by temperature variations, wear and age.

Actual results from tests conducted in the field show that BCM maintains brake force on cars with a 1 psi / min leak in the brake cylinder.
